Cabin Baggage/Carry-on Baggage/Hand Baggage Allowance

Only 1 piece of cabin baggage is currently allowed on all IndiGo flights. The weight of the cabin baggage should not exceed 8 kgs. In addition, the sum of the length, width and height (L+W+H) of the hand baggage should not exceed 115 cms. IndiGo recommends that all valuable items like jewelry, cameras, cash, etc should be carried in the cabin baggage piece. Due to current security regulations, liquids, gels, pastes or items of similar consistency are NOT allowed in the cabin baggage. However prescription medicines and inhalers are allowed in the cabin baggage, only if they are accompanied by a doctor’s prescription. Baby/Infant food is allowed. Also note that sharp items like, scissors and pocket knives and weapons of any kind are not allowed in the cabin baggage.

Note: Due to airport security regulations, no cabin baggage is allowed on any IndiGo flights from Jammu and Srinagar airports.

Checked-in Baggage Allowance

Domestic: Indigo permits the following free checked-in baggage allowance on all its domestic flights:

  • Adults: 15 Kgs
  • Children: 15 Kgs
  • Infants: 0 kgs

International: Indigo permits the following free checked-in baggage allowance on its international flights:

  • Adults: 20 Kgs
  • Children: 20 Kgs
  • Infants: 0 kgs

For all flights from/to Dubai and Muscat, Indigo allows all passengers to check-in 30 kgs of baggage.

Note: There is NO special baggage allowance on any IndiGo flights for domestic passengers connecting from/to international flights on other airlines.

Excess, Oversized or Overweight Baggage

If you have more than the permitted allowance, or if your bags exceed the permitted weight or dimensions, IndiGo will charge you extra.

Domestic Excess Baggage Charges: If your check-in baggage exceeds 15 kgs, then Indigo will charge you Rs 250/kg to be paid at the airport counter in cash, as excess baggage charges.

You can also pre-book excess baggage online. The pre-paid charges for excess baggage on domestic routes are:

  • For upto 5 kgs excess baggage: Rs 500
  • For more than 5 kgs and upto maximum 10 kgs excess baggage: Rs 1500

International Excess Baggage Charges: On international routes, if your check-in baggage exceeds 20 kgs, then Indigo levies the following excess baggage charges:

  • Flights departing from India: Rs 525/kg (except to Kathmandu, Rs 250/kg)
  • Flights departing from Singapore: SGD 20/kg
  • Flights departing from Dubai: AED 40/kg
  • Flights departing from Bangkok: THB 315/kg
  • Flights departing from Muscat: OMR 4/kg
  • Flights departing from Nepal: NPR 400/kg

Please note that the free baggage allowance from Muscat and Dubai is 30 kgs.
