Cathay Pacific Vancouver-Delhi and Jetlite Delhi-Lucknow Baggage Allowance

May 29th, 2010 · No Comments · Baggage Allowances

Question: Hi FlightGuru,

I have a question re: baggage allowance on Jetlite domestic flight from Delhi to Lucknow.

I have booked my tickets from Vancouver to New Delhi with Cathay Pacific directly on their website, and I plan to take Delhi-Lucknow flight with Jetlite within couple of hours after I land in India. I have a check-in baggage allowance of 2 bags of 23 kgs each on Cathay Pacific.

I’ve written to Jetlite about my second checked-in baggage (23 kg) but they have given me the excuse that since my ticket is not booked on same itinerary, I will be charged for my second bag. I don’t understand how you can book a ticket directly to Lucknow with Cathay Pacific (or with any other website). Do I have any choice?

- Vishal

Answer: Hello Vishal,

Usually tickets booked by travel agents appear in a single itinerary, i.e. in a single ticket. Jetlite will allow you to check-in the second bag of 23 kgs, since you are connecting from Canada. If you booked the tickets online, just take a continuous print of both the international and domestic tickets (one after the other), and you will be good to go. Just show both tickets to the check-in clerk at Delhi and there should be no problem checking-in your 2 bags on the Delhi – Lucknow sector.

I hope you find this information useful. Do let us know your experience with the baggage after your flights. Your feedback is very useful for other travelers in a similar situation. If you need any other information about any domestic or international airline, we will be glad to answer your queries. Thank you for writing to FlightGuru.in.

Have a safe and happy flight!

1st Resposne from Vishal:

Thanks for the prompt reply. Much appreciated.

Although I’ve received an email from Jetlite stating otherwise (they say that they have code sharing with Jet Airways only, something I don’t think agree with IATA guidelines), this is exactly what I plan to do. Will show them the ticket printouts and see what happens.

Will most certainly let you know after I go through it.

Thanks again,
Vishal

Hi Vishal,

We have had several FlightGuru.in users connecting from/to USA and Canada who were allowed to check-in 2 bags on Jetlite. I think you will not have a problem. We would really appreciate it if you let us know your experience with them.

Thanks and Regards,

Final feedback from Vishal:

Hi FlightGuru,

As promised, I’m writing my experience back. I had no problem in connecting to Jetlite domestic flight with two check-in bags of 23 kgs each.

Thanks,
Vishal

PS: Irrelevant to this topic, but Cathay Pacific’s veg. meal is awful. And fruits in dessert??
